[ It goes without saying that Green's blackbox training has been hard on him; it's difficult to think of anything else now, without a proper set of distractions. He's upset, rightfully so - but when Kotetsu's message comes along he welcomes the distraction, making his way to the observation deck with minimal complaints.
His face is masked carefully, expression set in a way that keeps anyone else from knowing just what's going on in his mind. Arcanine's resting in his pokeball; it's another way for the boy to keep the attention away from himself, just for today.
Kotetsu was right, however - it's impossible not to miss the giant legged shark to the side of the observation deck, and Green's eyes widen. He's trying to process what he's seeing; he notices Kotetsu moments later, but this shark...? -- before he finally moves, half-jogging up to the two of them. ]
Wanna explain why the CDC has something like this? [ There's definitely some kind of awe in his voice. ]
[ kotetsu doesn't really know what possessed him to take charge of not one, but two animals. the frostbrood hadn't been so bad, especially since he had the help of his friends and bahari, but why he's trying this with a landshark is really beyond him. the good thing is at least green is already here and doesn't look like he minds too much.
the bad thing is legend looks like he's about to jump on the landshark. sometimes the baby bahari can sure be tougher to handle. ]
We caught 'em. [ wait. ] Uh, back on Ajna, we had a mission where we had to catch a lot of the animals who lived there. Landsharks were part of 'em.
[ he tosses a glance at the now surprisingly docile thing. back then, it would have tried to kill them already. ]
Caught -?! [ Oh. Wait. That makes a little more sense. His mind quickly supplies Anja as that other planet he wasn't here for, eyes moving to properly study the landshark. He's not sure where to begin; he's never been a researcher, never plans to be one (hah), but hell if he doesn't find this interesting. ]
Huh. [ He crosses his arms, tilting his head to the side. ] So what're we supposed to do with the thing, anyway?
[ the landshark is still doing nothing, mostly staring at the two of them like it expects them to figure this all out. kotetsu does the same because he doesn't really know what else to do other than stare.
maybe an idea will hit him eventually. ]
We gotta get this guy to Medical, for a check-up. Problem is I dunno if he'll like being carried. Do you if Arcanine knows how to herd?
[ that sounds about right; no one really in their right minds would trust kotetsu to do anything, but alas. you're stuck with this guy. and a landshark who looks about ready to sit down on the floor. it sure is a lazy day today. ]
Yeah. I mean, me and my friends already had to lead a frost dragon over. Just one of these guys can't be that hard.
[ of course, look at how much distance they've covered: nothing. ]
He's pretty strong but I think right now he looks like he just wants to take a nap. [ ... ] I could probably just carry him, but if you have a better idea, I'm all for it.
[ There's times when Kotetsu does pull through, as Green's seen in occasions. There was the rescue attempt, then the.. uh...
Point is, Green's pretty sure that if you take animals out of the equation, there's probably a reason the guy's a unit lead. The problem is, there are animals in this equation - to be specific, a rather unimpressed looking 6 foot canine, an aggressive alien cat, and a land shark that they have to move across the ship or something.
... ] Food might not be a bad idea. [ But that also means that they have to keep the other two from eating it - though it's worth a shot. They don't have a lot of options anyway, and Green would rather have that distance covered become more than zero, thanks. ] Have anything on you?
[ kotetsu takes it out from a tiny bag, wrapped and looking like it's not going to be enough. the land shark looks over his hands once kotetsu's holding onto the jerky; legend does the same thing. ]
You think this is gonna be enough?
[ it might be. as long as legend doesn't try to steal it. ]
[ Arcanine joins the "stop and stare" club, head turning with his eyes fixated on the tiny little bag, eyes focused. There's little obstacles between himself and an extra treat, after all. If he could just --
Only Green stops him with a click of his tongue and a well placed look at the other, and the canine automatically shrinks down again. ] They all look interested enough.
We just need to make sure Legend stays back while that [ A pause as he considers if "landshark" is actually his name. ] -- thing [ Close enough. ] is interested enough to follow it.
Try waving it around? [ Because not only will this make Kotetsu look like an idiot, but he can also make sure if the said landshark will follow it. ]
Right, okay. I'll handle Legend if he gets too excited.
[ at least the bahari is small enough so that won't really be a problem. kotetsu focuses on the landshark in front of them and dangles the moose jerky like a carrot on a stick. it attracts its attention just fine, head turning to eye to piece of meat before attempting to get closer to it.
kotetsu takes that as his cue to start backing up. ]
I hope so. [ But that's what he leaves it, attention evenly split between making sure Arcanine doesn't decide to jump Kotetsu and making sure that the landshark doesn't try anything too out of the ordinary. Green considers recalling the canine back to his pokeball, but damage control might be necessary.
Besides, it looks like Arcanine's well-behaved enough to stick around. Small blessings. ]
Just keep going. [ Though -- yeah, there's a small flicker of a smile that appears on his lips for a second, only moving to follow right behind the giant beast once it starts to move. That way, Kotetsu has the front, Green has the back. Now if they can just keep this up, everything should be golden. ]
[ to anyone watching them, this might be a hilarious sight, but the fact that it's working has kotetsu going along with it. he tries to keep the shark's attention by clicking his tongue, waving the jerky around, and keeping it well in the creature's line of sight. they're out of the observation deck and into the halls.
it's not much further to the medical area from here. ]
This isn't too hard.
[ now that he said it maybe it'll jinx them. or not. it'll be good if it didn't. ]
[ Typically, Green isn't the type to get his hopes up unless he's certain that things will go well. But the simpleminded nature (?? probably) of the landshark, coupled with the relatively short distance to medical from where they are pretty much guarantees them a victory.
Well, at least until Kotetsu had to say that. ] Great, now you probably jinxed it.
[ Which means he's going to be particularly attentive to the giant beast's movements until he sees the doors to their destination (who knew this would actually work?). He only breathes a proper sigh of relief once the landshark's where it's supposed to be, resting his back against the walls in the hallway. ]
I don't know if this going so well was a good thing, or if it means something's going to be even harder later. [ Ever the optimist. ]
[ kotetsu says, as soon as they reach the medical area. the landshark is (surprisingly) still following after the jerky lure and now that they've made it, it looks like the skellies are taking care of things from here. ]
But I dunno. Maybe we'll get challenge later, but thanks for helping me out. You too, Arcanine.
[ little did they know just how difficult macha was going to be, even on the first day. oops. ]

Also are you sure you want to herd that [ A nod to the giant shark. ] into Medical? You realize that it's going to make a mess, right?
