[ He hadn't forgotten about the cuff, but so many people wanted to be left alone at a time like this that he hadn't pushed for it. Barnaby understands the desire to be by yourself. Some people don't want to show weakness, or let others see them suffer.
[ Green still finds the concept of concern... strange.
And that isn't to say that he's grown up as some emotionless monster. He has no tragic past that made him hate the world. At most he's been a bully, someone too determined to stop and look around him, and well -- a teenager, really. Someone with room to grow.
He has grown already, he likes to think. But he hasn't grown enough to accept concern when it comes to him.
Maybe he'll never learn, who knows.
But the point is, he's sitting by the outskirts of camp, where the clearing meets the trees, a giant canine providing the backrest he needs. It's peaceful, both of them looking rather content at first glance - if Arcanine didn't look so alert, and Green didn't look so ... tired.
And true to the alertness, the pokemon notices the pair first, ears flattening on his head as he growls, low and menacing. Green turns a moment later, concern turning into ... recognition.
Then a frustrated sort of resignation as he taps his partner to calm down. ]
I told you, I'm fine. [ The beast stopped growling, but it doesn't mean that his eyes stopped following the familiar duo. ]
[ the growling makes kotetsu pause in mid-step, but it doesn't really come as a surprise. nothing that happened today is new to him given how he's seen this sort of thing go down before; most people, just as barnaby had surmised, wants to be left alone. kotetsu has heard no too many times today than he'd like to count but that doesn't mean he's going to stop caring.
and, unluckily for green, telling kotetsu he was fine just didn't cut it. that's why the pair ends up looking for him, and finding him no problem. ]
Yeah, well— we just wanted to check up on you. Maybe walk you home.
[ There's no denying that Kotetsu is infinitely better at these kinds of delicate discussions than Barnaby is, but that doesn't stop him from coming along anyway. After all, Barnaby too is worried about Green; it's hard not to be, considering what just happened to him. He knows from his own experiences how bad this can get.
When people demand that they're fine, the opposite usually turns out to be true. ]
You know how Kotetsu is when it comes to fussing.
[ Who is he kidding, Barnaby is very close to being on the same level sometimes. ]
... [ Green stares at the two, unsure how to turn them away. He's too tired for this - he's comfortable where he is now, he doesn't feel like moving. The same tiredness also keeps him from trying to really try to turn them away aside from the "I'm fine" and the "I don't need anything" though, so this is an interesting place to be.
Why do they care so much? ]
... [ A sigh, eyes staring at the ground by their feet before his gaze flickers back up to the two. ] Yeah.
I'm fine, I'll head back later. [ But alas, here's another attempt anyway. ]
[ whether green knows it or not, kotetsu has no plans of leaving him alone—no matter how many times the pokemon trainer refuses him. he's pretty sure barnaby feels the same way, too, so green is stuck with two stubborn adults who won't go anywhere without him. ]
We'll head back with you, whenever you feel like.
[ yes, that means they'll stay here until green feels like moving, if they have to. they're walking home together, that's the plan kotetsu is sticking with. ]
[ Even if it takes Green some time to feel comfortable going. Barnaby doesn't want to leave him on his own like this, and he's sure that Kotetsu feels the same way that he does. Unfortunately for Green, he managed to make friends with two of the most stubborn people in camp.
Neither of them will apologise for that, unfortunately for him. ]
[ Well, that doesn't leave Green with much of a choice.
He sighs, finally getting up from his spot and dusting himself off, Arcanine quickly following suit. At least he's expression's less miserable and more ... annoyed, if that makes things better. ]
If heading to the rover means you'll get off my back.
[ Deep down, he knows they mean well -- which is probably the reason for the lack of his usual bite in his words, but it's not exactly fond either. He shrugs, hand motioning for his partner to follow as he starts walking away from the duo. ]
[ kotetsu looks over at barnaby for a few seconds before he starts to walk himself. finding green had been their priority and now that they're heading back, they just have to make sure green gets to their rover without collapsing. ]
You don't wanna stop by Medical for a quick check?
I was there a couple of hours ago. [ Which serves as an answer for Kotetsu, and he's walking fine, isn't he?
As for what Barnaby's saying -- ]
Better than sitting outside like idiots. [ ... Because yeah, after his initial outburst he's slowly starting to realize that no, Kotetsu isn't going to leave him alone, is he? ]

I mean, if you really wanted to, we can sit outside the rover or something.
[ as long as they can keep an eye on him, the location doesn't matter so much!! ]
