Green's no mind reader, and as far as things go he prefers to ignore people's feelings. But it doesn't mean he doesn't notice when the girl in front of him - Hanna - goes from an easy bicker to ... that. ] -- Oh.
[ He's not sure what to say. He's never been good at this because he refused to be. ] That's ...
A lot more involved than I thought. [ He mostly just imagined blowing up a planet with lasers, or something. Not that. ]
[ Actually, that makes sense. There are a couple of faces Green distinctly remembers seeing that he hasn't run into as of yet. Sure, the ship is huge and they could very much still be here, but he has a feeling that with his luck, he would have run into them by now.
But he hadn't, and the reasoning behind that makes a lot more sense. He wants to ask where they all go, but at the same time ... he's not sure he wants to find out. The organization, at least from Green's perspective, is a little shady at best, dangerous at worst. But he's not dealing with Team Rocket anymore (not that he ever had). ]
Hm? [ Arcanine's giving the girl a quick sniff, trying to pick out scents that he might otherwise recognize. ] Yeah. Don't worry, he won't bite unless you're trying to kill us. [ It's a little morbid how easily that rolls off his tongue, but within 72 hours and he's already well-adjusted here in that aspect, at least. There's a small shrug of his shoulders, but his eyes are still watching the girl; he's curious how she'd react to his partner. ]
[ That's extremely comforting Green. Though perhaps the beast only reacted to outright signs of aggression and attack, as he hadn't gone on the defensive seeing her weapon, or the tense stance she'd held while approaching the pair earlier. The tiger-dog (whatever) actually seems more curious? ]
He didn't seem alarmed by my gun. [ Her voice is somewhat questioning. It's fairly clear that Green doesn't have any noteworthy offensive or defensive abilities of his own, and relies on his companion to do most of the work. Knowing that, she's kind of questioning just how effective the giant animal is, not even reacting to a weapon coming his way.
(Or maybe she's just that insignificant of a threat...?) ]
[ Kaneki's life is the definition of misfortunes, to be honest. He puts the Series of Unfortunate Events to shame. Everything those characters had to experience, Kaneki's head it at least twice as worse. If not more.
Maybe Kaneki actually lived under a rock as far as video games went and has no idea what Pikachu is. Or he could be one of those people that knows about Pikachu but doesn't know about Pokemon. There are a couple of people like that too. The possibilities are endless, but this would be so much better if we could fourth wall, this is completely true.
If Green's world had a Iditarod he'd eat his words, but (un)fortunately, it doesn't. Even if it did, he'd be more interested in battling. ] Yeah. You've got it.
[ He considers adding an "about time" there, but that's a little uncalled for in a situation like this. Maybe in a different time in a different world. ]
Most trainers battle with them. [ Green speaks pretty nonchalantly, giving a shrug of his shoulders. ] Against each other, against pokemon in the wild.
[No, that's completely impossible, because if Pokemon existed, Hide would've played it (and would've been one of those really obsessive egg-breeding, IV-training maniacs with it) and Kaneki most likely would've been drawn into it at one point as well. So we just have to imagine Kaneki comes from a version of Tokyo which miraculously doesn't have any Pokemon. Just ghouls.
Just like how Green's world has... pokemon. Every single animal, every species, was a creature that he could apparently use to... fight against one another. Kaneki raises one eyebrow at that, but he... tries... to imagine that it's not as abusive as it sounds. Not like dog fighting rings or anything like that... hopefully...]
So you're a "trainer" because you train the pokemon to fight for you... [He's looking at the Arcanine with some interest. It's somewhat strange to imagine that such a huge creature would grow to become completely compliant to a kid's commands, but it certainly seems like that's the case.] So you usually have a "team," right? How many others besides Arcanine?
[ Green almost wants to let the poor guy off the non-existent hook and let him pet Arcanine, but he almost wants to revel in the discomfort for a little while longer. Because he's seen quite a number of reactions when it comes to his pokemon, and mild discomfort is always his favorite. ]
Yeah? [ His eyebrows furrow. His species name is his name, that's exactly how it works. ] I just told you his name.
[ Arcanine's pretty content with the smell, deciding to sit down right where he had been standing, looking at the man for a pet. Why not, right? He's collecting data, or something, to see who gives the best ear scratches. So far Green's winning by a long shot, but he's also had years of practice, so. ]
[Falcon looks at Green somewhat skeptically for naming his animal the species name (he can only assume), but Arcanine is sitting down (??), and Falcon is pretty sure he can't get away with not petting this tigerdog any more.
But okay. Okay, here he goes. Here he goes, letting his hand descend behind Arcanine's ear. Here he goes. Giving the ear scritches, while continuing to lineface the entire time.]
[ If it's any consolation, Barnaby's doing a lot better than a lot of the others Green's come to meet in the short period of time. And the people he'll also likely meet in the future, because giant dogs aren't exactly the norm here. Arcanine's pretty content with the attention he's been receiving (especially after the promise of answers from Green), so he'll continue to enjoy that. ]
Usually. Like I said, as long as no one's trying to attack us. [ One can pick up a lot from body language. ]
-- Maybe a little more so than usual. He's been cooped up for a while. [ Thanks, alien planet in the middle of space. ]
You make it sound as though being attacked is a daily occurrence.
[ If only you knew, Barnaby. And it would be pleasing to know that he is doing better than some of the others, though quite frankly at times he can be terrible no matter who he interacts with, people or giant dogs alike. Not that he's had very much experience with the latter, of course, but there's a first time for everything. ]
[ He gives a small nod - good. Green might be tip-toeing around unfamiliar faces, but the fastest way to rile him up is insulting his partner (usually, team. But they're not all here right now). Similarly, the fastest way to get him to talk is to show interest in his pokemon. ]
Combatants? [ There's a small tilt of his head, considering the term. At the same time, Arcanine's taken notice of the stranger (who is ... definitely stranger than all the others), and carefully approaches him for a sniff. ] -- Not all of them. But most of them are, including him.
[ And because it's very much like Green to continuously ask - ] Why do you ask?
[ holding his ground and careful not to make any sudden movements, javik lets the arcanine sniff as much as he'd like. in fact, after a moment, he'll even hold a hand out, letting the creature sniff his fingers and intending to get an opportunity to touch in return and learn a little bit more about just what this is. ]
This is no place for pets. But fighting animals, those are of interest.
-- This. [ A general, vague hand motion at the rec wing. Green takes the moment to give Arcanine a small nod (because why not, really), and the beast is more than willing to go for a quick lap.
By quick, it's really quick. Thanks, 250mph. ] The whole bringing me to the rec wing.
Why wouldn't I be? [ Even with the fact that Arcanine's pretty much the happiest dog in the ship, it's still.... ] You took a stranger to a big open room for their pokemon before asking for their name. Who wouldn't be worried?
I... guess. [ He's still skeptical, just a little bit. But then both his Pidgeot and Arcanine manage to travel at insane speeds without crashing into anything, so they all probably have some weird be-able-to-see-everything powers, or something. Green's not going to bother figuring it out right now. This is his gramp's area of expertise, anyway. ]
-- Hm? It's ... [ he almost blurts out "fine" as a given response, but... ] Whatever. [ He eventually settles on that with a small shrug. ]
It's awkward, but I'm not bleeding anywhere, so I'll live. [ He's not exactly the best with words, unfortunately. ]
[ Maybe you'll get to see the magic that's a pokeball one day, Nic.
... ] Really? Of all the things right now, that's what you're worried about.
He's not a pet. [ Insert eyeroll here. ] He's... a team member. [ Partner? Friend? Those two words tread on dangerous territories, so he's going to leave it off at team member. ] I tell him what to do, he fights.
also, to be fair, nic's not entirely sure what's going on right now, having.. been deaf... for all the warnings. so at green's mention of it, he only arches a brow in curiosity, though he doesn't really press the matter. perhaps the boy is just referring to his overall situation. not everyone takes it so well, after all.
[ Well, considering the world Green comes from, he wouldn't go so far to consider it ... killing. Though, in regards to this specific place, he has a better answer for that. ] I dunno, that big metal ball from that alien planet seemed pretty intent on killing things. [ As if he wasn't stuck in the middle of it all and had to get his ass saved. Nope.
Then the flurry of questions come and Green's -- yeah, he's trying really hard not to chuckle now. ] That's a lot of questions.
Not kill, but he knows how to attack. Yes, but you don't want to know. [ He suddenly has a chance to scare a poor kid who has no idea what a Pokemon is, he's going to take every chance to scare him as much as possible. ] He's an Arcanine. That's his name.
[ The said beast, on the other hand, could care less about whatever his trainer was saying -- the kid managed to scratch him even before he had to ask for it, which makes him a pretty great kid in the dog's books. His tail starts wagging behind him, and he decides he's had enough sniffing for the day to sit down where he's been standing, lowering his body for a better reach. ]
[whoa, fluffy... and a wagging tail just like a real dog! considering that the only friendly animals around had been the imposing Bahari, size aside, Hinata's impression of Arcanine (an Arcanine? how many of them were there?) shifted rapidly from giant scary dog thing to giant fluffy puppy.]
[half-listening to the answers once he really dug into scratching at those universally itchy canine spots, it takes a bit before--]
I don't want to know?
[attention snapping over to Green, hands stilling (while practically hugging the great dog). because. um. what. what.]
[ He looks over to the said giant pods, raising an eyebrow.
Then a shrug. ] Dunno. It's ... weird, I guess.
I'd have more to say if I remembered how I got in them in the first place. [ It's added on as an afterthought, because his memory definitely has a cap and he really wishes he knew what was supposed to be in that gap. ]
Well, you're the one who rejected him. [ The reply comes without missing a beat, rolling his eyes. ] I'm pretty sure this is the equivalent of someone reaching to shake your hand and you slapping that hand away. [ Or something. As if Green knows the details, but he's also having a bit too much fun to really consider the details.
It's probably something like that, anyway.
When the hand does come out, Green can't help but have a corner of his lips tug up in a smirk of sorts. Arcanine perks up visibly, giving the hand a couple more sniffs before staring at the stranger expectantly, maybe with a bark or two. You passed the first test, orange haired guy, can you pass the second one? ]
Don't make it sound like... that! [ there's a slight, more subtle emphasis on the "that" portion of his exclamation. that, meaning that whole "equivalent" to this or whatever else green was managing to spout off in an attempt to guilt him. though, well, the remorse was undeniable enough, even under his gruff and less than eloquent exterior. though, he does fall into eventual silence when the creature... smells him once more. there's a twitch of his eyebrows, his expression still flat. there was another interjection at the tip of his tongue, but it's shut down by the sheer intensity of which he stares them both down. only, at the words. ] ...
I already let him smell me, isn't that enough? [ how greedy is this dog thing being?! but, despite ichigo's words, he is lifting his palm a bit higher. only. no, he doesn't pet him. ] Besides, why would I do that when I don't even know what he is.
There's two ways this can go; he can either admit that he trained it, and thus won't hurt her, or he can lie and say that he didn't train it, which is definitely going to injure his pride at one point or another. So there's a definite pause when he tries to think of what to say -- ]
Well, yeah -- but. Wait. Why do you want to ride him in the first place? [ That might be a good place to start. ]
omg jay i thought you didn't love me anymore /cries on you and sneezes into ur shoulder
[What a dilemma he stuck himself in. One day he'll learn that she's trained with animals to the point that she can pick apart cries of distress from communication and the like--but for now, they have this first task to complete.]
It looks fun? [Yes, it's a question.] It looks like it would be nice to cuddle too. [This is almost like her asking to nap with it, honestly...]
Bending. Just the four? [ It vaguely reminds him of the types from his home, only replacing earth with ground and air with ... maybe flying? Hm. That works rather well.
He's watching carefully as the guy's flames approach Arcanine, who doesn't seem all that bothered by it. In fact, his body shifts to lean towards the fire, giving a small shake of his body when the first round seems to ... disappear. ] See?
Told you. [ Green will take every chance to be right - but his eyes are still trained on his partner, a faint smirk appearing on his lips as the beast barks. From the sounds of it, someone might think he was just getting a really good belly rub, or something. ]
Gee, that's descriptive. [ He quips back, a gentle roll of his eyes a decent enough indication that yeah, the question's a little ridiculous. It's not like they can just ... get super powers out of the blue, could they? (Well, maybe with the CDC, anything's possible.)
But he takes a moment or two to consider the question regardless, because the atmosphere around them feels heavy and Green catches on the weight of the question pretty easily. If he's feeling the way he does with the deaths, then ... What about those actually responsible?
At the same time though, empathy isn't Green's strongest point, so the thought gets dismissed pretty quickly. ] Better communicate with my pokemon. [ Which he understands isn't helpful to the other in the slightest, but ... that's not what the question's asking. ] I don't wanna speak their language, but I want to understand what they're thinking, at least.
[Garrus takes a moment, turning that over in his head. It makes sense. It'd help Green fight better and do more with what he has. Also it's familiar. Asking for something too unfamiliar... That seems like it'd be an invitation for confusion in the middle of stressful situations.]
That's a good one, sounds like. Being able to check in on them, know when they're having a bad day or if they're not sure what to do.
[He's not quite sure what the intelligence level of Green's dog is, but animals have to give off some instincts.]
You'd still rely on them to do most of the fighting, then?
Of course I'm sure, I wouldn't be asking otherwise.
[ Green shrugs, stepping away from the canine so prevent him from getting caught on fire, too. He watches with idle amusement as the flames get directed to Arcanine, and upon contact the same flames seem to ... disappear. It's almost like nothing happened in the first place, aside from the fact that the pokemon looks ... healthier, almost. His fur seems glossier too, almost.
He shakes his body from head to toe, seemingly pleased with the results. The trainer in question only grins in triumph. ] See, told you.
[ Don't mind how bewildered she sounds. Hawke is trying to take a good look at Arcanine to see if there's an obvious difference, but to someone who wasn't familiar with the Pokemon in the first place, she has nothing more than a few vague ideas about what might have happened. Truthfully, she expected him to actually catch on fire, or something. It's odd to think that hasn't happened now. ]
[ Is that ... recognition? Green sure hope it's not recognition. If this is some squirt that he's had to battle during his post as gym leader (which from the sounds of it sounds like a really long time, but it's actually not), it means that he's some Red wannabe, and this is the last thing he wants to deal with - under-qualified snots who have no idea what they just got into.
He might be really hellbent on changing his mindset, because he doesn't want to consider the alternate possibility. The alternate possibility doesn't even make sense, for Arceus' sake.
There's an audible sigh at the poor kid's confusion, and despite himself Green runs a hand through his hair, frowning. ] The Charizard.
Who gave him to you? [ Nope, definitely didn't catch it, that doesn't make sense.
But then there's his name being spoken out loud and Green can't help but pause visibly, eyes back on the kid again. It's only then he remembers that it's natural for people to know his name, it doesn't honestly mean anything ... So he speaks up again, voice completely level. ]
That's my name, don't wear it out. [ ... Yep. ] What do you want?
[ At least Arcanine's doing much better in the making-new-friends department, taking cautious steps forward to the lizard -- he tilts his head, curiosity bright in his eyes. Eventually his snout is close enough to offer it as a greeting of sorts, tail wagging slowly from side to side. It's been so long since he's seen another pokemon ... ]
[ Whatever game Green's playing, Red isn't going to play it.
Just because it bemuses him to listen to, and it shows in the crook in his brow and how he further stares at the other boy before deciding to answer. These questions... ]
The professor did...? [ He says it like Green should know it, for the obvious reason that he should. Really, what is going on here? ] What do you want? Is this a test?
[ Because that's what it sounds like, though Red can't conjure up an idea of why Green would need to quiz him like that. And as for Arcanine, the offer is returned by Charizard - after a quick glance to Red, curious about the tone of his voice - with him bringing his own snout closer to the pokémon. ]
There's a lot of things Green's reserved about as far as this particular mission goes, but he also knows that he has little time to think about it. It's something he has to do, for the sake of his pokemon, for the sake of the people that are now his crew, so that he doesn't get sent home or end up dead or -- whatever. He's already let his pokemon down one too many times to count (in his mind, anyway), he can't screw this up again.
So the trainer grits his teeth, and does what he's told.
Which currently happens to involve covering for the people who are rescuing others, since neither Green or Arcanine are going to risk a ravine so steep. They're better at fighting anyway - at least one of them fighting while the other keeps up to plan their next move.
Green eyes catch the struggle at the edge, immediately turning his partner's attention in that direction. ] Arcanine, Extreme Speed! [ And suddenly, the pair at the edge of the forest becomes just one, an orange blur appearing at just at the side of the Neraki woman, slamming his weight on to her with little hesitance - it's angled in such a way that while Marco will stay relatively unharmed (might wanna prepare yourself, just in case there--), the force is enough to tip the warrior off the edge, tumbling down.
The juggernaut flashes as the teen catches up to the scene moments later. ] You alright -? [ He hasn't noticed Red yet. ]
[He doesn't let himself peer down over the edge of the ravine as the Neraki warrior tumbles down. He doesn't let himself imagine its steepness, the slabs of rock he'd seen jutting out from the underbrush at the bottom. He whips his attention to the enormous dog and the boy who must be its owner, emerging from the trees that encompass the village, the juggernaut armor giving him away as a member of Green.]
I'm fine-- [When Arcanine came barreling in, he had leaped back just in time to avoid the wake of the attack, suffering only from the gracelessness that comes with being caught totally off guard.] There's one of the captives, we couldn't take them out of the basket so we had to take the whole thing.
[He indicates with a punctuated gesture to where he had last seen Red and Charizard below.]
That boy and his dragon are taking care of them - can you help me cover? We can't let them get caught in the crossfire.
[ Rain kind of sucks, and Arcanine has a certain ... dislike for being wet. The perks of not quite being a doge and more of a fire type, apparently, if they can even be called perks. He wouldn't ... mind too much if this lady wanted to dry off on his mane though. It's not something he'd offer right off the bat but - ]
Go for it, he's practically waiting for it now. [ Green ignores the apology pretty outright, knowing that he can't return without his partner; the said partner is pretty much staring at her with expectant eyes, not at all worried about the smell. He's smelled worse, or something. Who knows what goes on in the canine's mind.
Though hm-- ] You new? [ Because now he's not the newest, right. ]
YELLS INTO THE HEAVENS this is everything i ever wanted... also gently godmods your poke
Thanks! [ She'll settle for some extremely enthusiastic head rubs for now, and immediately starts working with Arcanine to figure out exactly where her ministrations are needed. (Who'zh a gud boy...) ]
--Oh, yeah. Just arrived, actually. [ Well, she was here a few days--or weeks?--ago but. Technicalities. ] You're an old-timer here, I'm guessing?
[ She breaks off chuckling as Arcanine softly butts an ear under one of her hands, which she translates into a request for scritches there. ]
[ There isn't much from Green aside from a hum in acknowledgement - he's not hugely invested in the cuteness of his pokemon team, after all. With enough badgering, he might relent enough to say that they could be considered charming, but ... well, he doesn't exactly keep his team around so that they look good.
Though Arcanine seems to defy that logic, tail right back to wagging at the scratches his ear receives. ]
... Good to know. [ Though Green sounds, at best, detached from it all. He does note that Alphonse is nicer than Ed at least (which isn't saying much, granted). ]
Back when -- Huh. [ With all the other new recruits during the rescue mission, probably. ] Well, as long as you know what you're doing. They won't complain as long as you do what you're supposed to do.
[ And with that Green's freshly out of things to say to Al, which means that he's just probably going to wait until Arcanine's satisfied with the pets he's getting. The epitome of social, this one. ]
[In all honesty, Al would think the ugliest pokemon was cute in its own way so really... don't trust his judgement when it comes to animals. The creature could chomp his arm off and it would still be adorable.
So far, he's only seen two pokemon and he likes them both equally. Though Arcanine does appear to be a little bit friendly in comparison to Charizard for some reason. It's just the impression he gets.
When it comes to Ed, sometimes he just has to grow on people.]
Yeah. [Back then.] I know what's expected of me.
[Doesn't mean he'll always be able to do it, but he doesn't say that. They're all going to wait until Arcanine is satisfied because Al can do this all day long. He can come up with new subjects to talk about though.] How long have you been here?
[ Well, that's one way to go about it. Arcanine eventually reaches the pony, nudging Biggie's snout with his own - for a mix of a greeting and a customary sniff. Green's not going to stop his partner when somehow, he's managed to get the stubborn creature to move - so moving to see how this goes. ]
Not pets. [ The first thing out of his mouth is a correction. ] But I'm a pokemon trainer - creatures where I'm from.
[ Eventually -- well, it's not like Arcanine can really tell danger from a sniff of someone's hand. But at least none of the smells are things he particularly dislikes, and clearly that's the most important thing here, right? The tension dissipates, slowly, but eventually he sits just in front of Alice, eyes bright.
And so start the belated introductions, and the even more belated wait to get an ear scratch. ]
Breed --? [ And this is when Green's eyes narrow, eyebrows furrowing toward the middle as he tries to figure out just what this girl's talking about. ] Oh.
Is this a dog thing? [ "A dog thing", he says, as if it makes sense. ] Arcanine's not a dog. He's a pokemon. [ This also makes a lot of sense. ]
Oh. [ She says, like that makes total sense. ] Right. And a pokemon is...what he is?
[ It's like being the slow kid in class. Alice's brows pinch in as she stares, like just looking long enough at that stripey coat will reveal all the hidden mysteries of poking men. ]
I mean, yeah, um. He kind of looks like -- not a dog? Sort of like a tiger... [ She waves a hand, dismissing her own train of thought. ] Sorry. He is gorgeous, though. And so polite.
[ At this point, she's mostly worried it's going to up and start talking. Between Mogget and Red's Charizard earlier, she's not sure whether any new animal is going to scream or snipe. ]
DAY 70: HANNA TALBOT
[ Maybe that wasn't the right thing to ask.
Not that. ]

no subject
[ If only you knew, Barnaby. And it would be pleasing to know that he is doing better than some of the others, though quite frankly at times he can be terrible no matter who he interacts with, people or giant dogs alike. Not that he's had very much experience with the latter, of course, but there's a first time for everything. ]

DAY 71: JAVIK
[ He gives a small nod - good. Green might be tip-toeing around unfamiliar faces, but the fastest way to rile him up is insulting his partner (usually, team. But they're not all here right now). Similarly, the fastest way to get him to talk is to show interest in his pokemon. ]
Combatants? [ There's a small tilt of his head, considering the term. At the same time, Arcanine's taken notice of the stranger (who is ... definitely stranger than all the others), and carefully approaches him for a sniff. ] -- Not all of them. But most of them are, including him.
[ And because it's very much like Green to continuously ask - ] Why do you ask?
no subject
This is no place for pets. But fighting animals, those are of interest.

DAY 70: KYOYA HIBARI
Who wouldn't be worried?
no subject
You shouldn't—
[Hibari's been distracted here, caught between the blur of... fur, and Oak's persistent questions, both.]

DAY 70: FETCH
DAY 70: NIC BROWN
[ Maybe you'll get to see the magic that's a pokeball one day, Nic.
... ] Really? Of all the things right now, that's what you're worried about.
He's not a pet. [ Insert eyeroll here. ] He's... a team member. [ Partner? Friend? Those two words tread on dangerous territories, so he's going to leave it off at team member. ] I tell him what to do, he fights.
no subject
also, to be fair, nic's not entirely sure what's going on right now, having.. been deaf... for all the warnings. so at green's mention of it, he only arches a brow in curiosity, though he doesn't really press the matter. perhaps the boy is just referring to his overall situation. not everyone takes it so well, after all.

DAY 70: HINATA SHOUYOU
no subject
[half-listening to the answers once he really dug into scratching at those universally itchy canine spots, it takes a bit before--]
I don't want to know?

[ He looks over to the said giant pods, raising an eyebrow.
Then a shrug. ] Dunno. It's ... weird, I guess.
I'd have more to say if I remembered how I got in them in the first place. [ It's added on as an afterthought, because his memory definitely has a cap and he really wishes he knew what was supposed to be in that gap. ]
DAY 70: ICHIGO KUROSAKI
He wants you to pet him.
no subject
I already let him smell me, isn't that enough? [ how greedy is this dog thing being?! but, despite ichigo's words, he is lifting his palm a bit higher. only. no, he doesn't pet him. ] Besides, why would I do that when I don't even know what he is.

DAY 70: SASHA BRAUS
[ ... See, he can't say anything to that.
It looks fun? [Yes, it's a question.] It looks like it would be nice to cuddle too. [This is almost like her asking to nap with it, honestly...]

DAY 70: ZUKO
no subject
[ As his confidence grows, so do the flames flickering from his fingers. ]
Hey, I think he likes it!
[ He might be smiling a bit... just a bit.
Okay, that's enough. Eventually, he puts his hands back down to his sides. ]

TDM 5: GARRUS VAKARIAN
] I don't wanna speak their language, but I want to understand what they're thinking, at least.
no subject
[Garrus takes a moment, turning that over in his head. It makes sense. It'd help Green fight better and do more with what he has. Also it's familiar. Asking for something too unfamiliar... That seems like it'd be an invitation for confusion in the middle of stressful situations.]
That's a good one, sounds like. Being able to check in on them, know when they're having a bad day or if they're not sure what to do.
[He's not quite sure what the intelligence level of Green's dog is, but animals have to give off some instincts.]

TDM 5: HAWKE
Of course I'm sure, I wouldn't be asking otherwise.
[ Green shrugs, stepping away from the canine so prevent him from getting caught on fire, too. He watches with idle amusement as the flames get directed to Arcanine, and upon contact the same flames seem to ... disappear. It's almost like nothing happened in the first place, aside from the fact that the pokemon looks ... healthier, almost. His fur seems glossier too, almost.
He shakes his body from head to toe, seemingly pleased with the results. The trainer in question only grins in triumph. ] See, told you.
no subject
[ Don't mind how bewildered she sounds. Hawke is trying to take a good look at Arcanine to see if there's an obvious difference, but to someone who wasn't familiar with the Pokemon in the first place, she has nothing more than a few vague ideas about what might have happened. Truthfully, she expected him to actually catch on fire, or something. It's odd to think that hasn't happened now. ]
Will that be enough to help?

TDM 5: RED
no subject

TDM 5: MARCO BOTT & RED
[ This is a joint mission.
no subject
I'm fine-- [When Arcanine came barreling in, he had leaped back just in time to avoid the wake of the attack, suffering only from the gracelessness that comes with being caught totally off guard.] There's one of the captives, we couldn't take them out of the basket so we had to take the whole thing.
[He indicates with a punctuated gesture to where he had last seen Red and Charizard below.]
That boy and his dragon are taking care of them - can you help me cover? We can't let them get caught in the crossfire.

DAY 107: PETRA RAL
...What's his name?
[ With a light laugh, ] And what's yours?
GO FOR IT he would have done it anyway

DAY 107: ALPHONSE ELRIC
no subject
So far, he's only seen two pokemon and he likes them both equally. Though Arcanine does appear to be a little bit friendly in comparison to Charizard for some reason. It's just the impression he gets.
When it comes to Ed, sometimes he just has to grow on people.]
Yeah. [Back then.] I know what's expected of me.
[Doesn't mean he'll always be able to do it, but he doesn't say that. They're all going to wait until Arcanine is satisfied because Al can do this all day long. He can come up with new subjects to talk about though.] How long have you been here?
(no subject)
DAY 107: ERWIN SMITH
[ Well, that's one way to go about it. Arcanine eventually reaches the pony, nudging Biggie's snout with his own - for a mix of a greeting and a customary sniff. Green's not going to stop his partner when somehow, he's managed to get the stubborn creature to move - so moving to see how this goes. ]
Not pets. [ The first thing out of his mouth is a correction. ] But I'm a pokemon trainer - creatures where I'm from.
You've had him long?
DAY 107: ALICE QUINN
no subject
